I had been homeless since November of 1985, when my girlfriend of the time, Alcindia Ford, and I decided to split for good. My employment at the US Postal Service had finally been terminated, due to me calling in sick on July 4th, and me never returning to work, or even calling them to tell them why I did not want to return from vacation.

. My friend Randy Olson had allowed me to used his living room couch for a few months, and then my parents offered me their home, and a tiny bedroom, which I refused until March of 1987. This time, from December of 1985 through March of 1987 was characterized by itinerant behavior, and fortuitous engagements with strangers and short term friends.
