In a meditation on 1987 I was presented with quite the conundrum. There is no so-called “other” in cosmic consciousness, and when we experience that Sublime state, we can only laugh at the limited perception of the other, and the perception of the self that arises concurrently. We see the unreality of the whole perceptual process that creates the “me” and the “you”.
Proprioception also includes the direct experience of feeling our collective, individual, and cosmic identity simultaneously. When we realize that the concept of “you” is an illusion, because it is based upon verbal assignments, which never can contain the the fulness of who the “other” might actually be.
To know oneself fully, we must understand we are in relationship with humanity. We discover ourselves not through isolation or withdrawal, but through our action in the world.
What if our ability to perceive the world went far beyond the boundaries of our physical senses? Imagine discovering that your body’s natural proprioception—not just the sense of spatial awareness within your body, but something far greater—is a powerful gateway to an interconnected web of energy and consciousness.
The hidden potential of proprioception and energy fields invites us to explore questions that challenge traditional science, redefine selfhood, and broaden our understanding of the human experience. It pushes the boundaries of what we understand about the mind, body, and the intangible connections between us and the universe.
This article dives deep into how we might expand our awareness, explore extraordinary experiences, and cultivate a greater connection to one another and the world around us.
Proprioception is commonly defined as our sense of self-movement, body position, and spatial awareness. It enables us to touch our nose with our eyes closed, or walk through a crowded room without bumping into furniture. While the physiological functions of proprioception have been studied extensively, emerging personal accounts and spiritual philosophies challenge us to think beyond these physical boundaries.
What if proprioception isn’t confined to sensing the physical self but extends to include connections to other people, the environment, and even universal consciousness? Such an idea aligns with numerous spiritual and Indigenous traditions, which often emphasize the interconnectedness of all living things.
Personal experiences—from remarkable blisters forming in tandem with a loved one’s labor to sensing physical phenomena in others’ bodies or the earth itself—shine a light on the untapped potential of proprioception. These instances, while anecdotal, suggest there is a layer of our human experience that defies scientific explanation.
For example:
Merging Boundaries with Loved Ones
A deeply personal account shared here describes how a blister appeared on one individual’s hand, mirroring their partner’s injury, despite being miles apart. This radical empathy could suggest an intertwined energy field capable of crossing physical distance. Such experiences might point to the dissolving of personal boundaries, allowing us to feel another’s pain or experience their reality.
Feeling the Earth’s Energy
The sensation of expanding proprioception into the natural world, such as standing in the wilderness and feeling unified with the trees, air, and ground, provides another profound glimpse into these abilities. The earth itself becomes part of the sensory perception. Indigenous spiritualities often describe humans as inherently connected to and inseparable from the living Earth.
Awareness Beyond the Physical Self
Another remarkable phenomenon involved sensing internal issues, such as a tumor, not only within oneself but even reflected in a friend. These insights challenge traditional medicine’s approach to diagnosis and reveal a heightened awareness of interconnected energy between individuals.
When we touch our Self with deep awareness, we touch everything
Proprioception that extends into energy fields has profound implications for our understanding of empathy and interconnectedness. Traditional science acknowledges entanglement in quantum physics, where particles remain connected over distance. Could humans’ energy fields behave similarly, offering explanations for phenomena like these?
The insights offered here parallel philosophical and spiritual traditions spanning millennia. Reiki, Qi Gong, and Shamanic practices, for example, consistently point to the presence of universal energy fields and suggest cultivating this awareness for healing and self-discovery.
Such insights could help deconstruct the rigid separation between individuals, inviting us to consider a more fluid, boundaryless interconnected existence.
To access heightened proprioceptive states, adopting spiritual and mindful practices can provide a pathway. Here are a few methods to begin this journey:
Mindful Meditation
Develop awareness of subtle energy in and around the body. Through regular meditation, visualize light radiating from your being and “feel” the space beyond yourself. By training your focus on these less tangible sensations, you may gradually expand your proprioceptive awareness.
Connection to Nature
Immersing yourself in nature deepens the connection to the Earth’s energy fields. Focus on sounds, textures, and rhythms of your surroundings until you feel unified with the environment. Nature, a teacher in its own right, offers extraordinary opportunities to fine-tune one’s senses.
Partner Exercises
Working with a partner can amplify energy awareness. Engage in mirrored breathing practices or energy visualizations to explore mutual empathy and shared experiences.
Energy Disciplines
Explore Qi Gong, Reiki, or other ancient practices that actively engage with unseen energy fields. These methods are designed for cultivating an expanded sense of presence and connection.
Despite the insights and possibilities offered by expanded proprioception and energy fields, several challenges remain:
Limited Scientific Exploration
The scientific community has only just begun to explore the depth of human energy fields and expanded consciousness. More interdisciplinary studies are needed to bridge the gap between anecdotal experiences and measurable phenomena.
Cultural and Industry Resistance
Fields driven by convention, such as healthcare or academia, may hesitate to adopt practices or theories rooted in spirituality or energy work. Coarse masculine dynamics in certain industries have historically dismissed explorations of sensitive, intuitive, and spiritual natures.
Ethical Considerations
With greater awareness of energy fields comes a significant question of ethics. How do we ensure these skills are used responsibly and for the greater good, rather than manipulation or harm?
At its core, the exploration of proprioception and energy fields teaches us a powerful truth long echoed in ancient doctrines and emerging science alike.
Separation is an illusion.
We are more than standalone beings contained within rigid bodies. We are participants in a vast, interconnected web of existence. By awakening these dormant abilities, we deepen our empathy, enhance our connection to the Earth, and transcend self-imposed boundaries.
Our capacity for extraordinary awareness challenges the way we view ourselves, our relationships, and our roles within the natural world. How might this knowledge drive humanity forward into an era of greater harmony, creativity, and healing?
If you’re ready to step beyond the ordinary and explore a deeper level of existence, the path begins with curiosity and intention. Start small. Meditate, immerse yourself in nature, and explore practices like Reiki to better understand your connection to everything around you.
The mystery of consciousness and energy awaits.
Will you answer the call?
We are not just an individual, we are part of the vast mind of man. When we realize this fact, we enter into an extraordinary world, where we are the entirety of humanity living through one biological being.
Then, finding our true freedom comes with seeing the world as it is, yet still keeping the heart open in the midst of its insanity and chaos.
The Bodisvattva encapsulates this understanding.
