The NEC code book, or National Electrical Code, contains a comprehensive set of guidelines for safe electrical installations, including details on design, installation practices, and inspection requirements, aiming to protect people and property from electrical hazards by outlining standards for various electrical components and systems. 

The National Electrical Code (NEC) is approximately 912 pages long in its latest edition. 

For comparison purposes, the average Bible is around 1,200 pages long, but the exact number can vary depending on the version and size of the Bible. 

The intention of the bible was to present God’s word and its relationship to mankind as revealed through Jewish and the pre-Jewish history beginning in Mesopotamia, and times before that civilization existed, ultimately using mythologies from several pre-historical times and places.  Its pages are rich with metaphors that challenge readers to go beyond surface understanding. For spiritual seekers, theological students, and the general public alike, the Bible offers not just a collection of stories but a framework of faith, ethics, and enduring truths to wrestle with and reflect upon.  Its aim might be to protect people from spiritual hazards by presenting standards for human thought, behavior and actions and their social networks, including society.

My intention was never to create a Galactic Electrical Code, or the New Universal Version of the bible, but goals in life have a tendency to change as we evolve as human beings, and I am no exception.  Consciousness is infinite, and is theorized to be omniscient and omnipresent, so setting an upper limit to the size of this book seems  reasonable..

In the book of Genesis, 1:3, it is written:

The results of the application of the principles contained within the Bible have less certain outcomes, as many readers do not possess the requisite wisdom and discernment to understand the Bible’s narratives and divine intention in the first place.  History is replete with examples of Bible inspired religions which sanction murders, killing of children and the sacrificing of sons and daughters, fratrocide, ethnocide and genocide, exorcisms, excommunications, inquisitions, hostility towards science and facts, hostility towards priests of other faiths, homophobia, lust, greed, and other excesses supposedly sanctioned by “the word of God”.  You will not find any such exceptions to the golden rule in the NEC.

Regardless of our spiritual inclinations, or lack thereof, it can be acknowledged by most people that the Bible has long been revered by its sincere readers as one of the most significant texts in human history, serving as a bridge between its concept of the divine and humanity. It appears to seek to present God’s word and its profound relationship with mankind through narratives of history, allegory, and mythology, though many of its narratives remind us of the vastness difference between the intentions of a loving creative spirit of the universe and the collective experience of mankind.  Its stories often illuminate the spiritual hazards of human life and offer pathways to enlightenment. Yet, there is an almost poetic similarity between the two texts. The Bible offers a framework to guide humanity’s intentions and beliefs through narratives on spirituality, morality, and faith, giving guidance to access and utilize spiritual energy while living in our earth-bound physical world.  The  NEC offers practical mechanisms for the safe access and connection to and utilization of the electrical energy available to us in our earth-bound physical world.

Faithful application of the NEC protects against devastating injuries, electrical fires, and critical system failures, much as devout engagement with biblical principles aims to lead to spiritual enlightenment, communal harmony, and moral clarity (despite innumerable historical missteps in interpreting its stories). Notably, where the NEC never sanctions exceptions to its “golden rules” of safety, history has shown that countless actions—both inspiring and destructive—have been attributed to interpretations of the Bible’s teachings.

Both texts, however, speak to humans as creators—shapers of their environments with tools, choices, and consequences. For electricians, their work resonates deeply with the metaphorical significance of light described in the opening of Genesis:

Before we connect switches or design and install circuits, electricians know one truth above all else—energy flows. Electricity isn’t stationary; it moves, travels, and transforms. The same principle applies to the galaxy. Stars emit light and waves; planets conduct gravitation and energy; black holes consume and transfer matter like a celestial ground wire.  The same principle also applies to the circuit of the human being, where those who are connected to universal energy access the widest frequency of experience, and may even attain cosmic consciousness.

The galaxy itself is a living circuit, and universal bandwidth—the capacity to carry connections, signals, and information—functions like the frequency of electrical currents. Communication patterns in the universe mimic a carefully designed electrical infrastructure. Gravity behaves like a giant transformer, distributing its field of energy and influence across the galactic expanse.

An electrician engineers wires and circuits to ensure efficiency, but nature did it first. Look at a neuron, a brain, any life form, or even a lightning bolt. These networks echo electrical grids and show how deeply interwoven energy transfer is with life—no matter the scale.

Much like wiring a house requires intention and balance, the galaxy’s flows are perfectly tuned for sustaining existence. Every electron, the foundation of current itself, carries information.  Every star illuminates a fraction of the dark. Every wave carries messages forward. Are we just interacting with finite energy systems—or are we plugged into something far greater?

Bandwidth, in mechanical terms, is a network’s capacity to transmit and receive data. The greater the bandwidth, the more information that can be exchanged across that network. But in universality, it becomes something more philosophical—the potential to send and receive meaning. What if living well hinges upon accessing and amplifying our share of universal bandwidth?

Electricians know the importance of a well-designed and regulated current flow. Too much resistance, and the system overloads and overheats. Too little current, and the signal falters entirely, and required activity never materializes.. To live aligned with universal bandwidth means we must calibrate our lives as carefully as wiring a panel—balancing our capacity (capacitance) for anticipated loads, system resistance, and required total current flow.

Every wire resists to some degree. The lower the resistance the less potential for overheating and entropy and its deterioration into chaos. Humans, too, resist; we deflect ideas we dislike, shield emotions we fear, or confront challenges reluctantly. But consider this—what if resistance isn’t a problem but a necessary component of life? Could insight into it focus energy into creating or enhancing meaning?

Living on universal bandwidth requires understanding how resistance strengthens us. Like an electric system, you must fine-tune which aspects of life’s flow you harness and which you redirect. Resistance should never block the current outright but function as a shape-shifting guide.

There’s profound symbolism in the mundane tasks of an electrician. When designing circuits, they ensure completeness—a loop so energy returns to its source. The galaxy mirrors this looping by ensuring that nothing remains disconnected. Infinite solar winds, gravitational pulls, and radio frequencies interact endlessly. Universal principles repeat themselves in the micro and macro levels of existence.

Consider this parallel—humans as living circuits. The nervous system’s electrical impulses are identical to engineered microcurrents. Yet, beyond the physical, ideas, emotions, and dreams act as metaphysical charges connecting one person to the next, like wires in an invisible network.

When we tune into universal bandwidth, we essentially “rewire” ourselves to connect more deeply with these relationships. Every thought or loving word amplifies energy toward others while creating new paths for signals to return.

Electricians frequently calculate load demands so systems run efficiently. Load imbalances can lead circuits to fail—a valuable metaphor for our lives. Modern society pulls us in competing directions that drain our capacities unevenly, leaving us “short-circuited” emotionally or spiritually. Living in sync with universal flow demands balance. Pause. Redistribute your energy toward what sustains you.

Perhaps the most understated truth in this philosophical theory of energy is intention. Just as wires are fitted to serve a purpose (light a room, charge a device, or power progress), our galaxy flows with intention. Each star burns to communicate its light. Each black hole seems to concentrate unimagined possibility. Every switch becomes a choice to spark, connect, or signify.

Following universal bandwidth enables us to ask deeper questions:

• Are we contributing harmonious energy in the web of existence, expanding beyond the limits set by past versions of ourselves?
• Or are we a disconnected or an ungrounded wire, sparking aimlessly in isolation?

The task ahead of us is not merely pragmatic but profoundly spiritual—light every part of existence with clarity, face resistance willingly, and keep energy flowing in service of others.

But what kind of electricians would we be if we ignored the vital essence of levity? Humor, like light, dispels the shadows of despair or difficulty. Just as divine light awakens understanding, humor lightens the load of work and life. It is that spark of joy in a dim moment—the same sudden flash of insight or mischief found in a flickering bulb. Observing one brain cell in the human body might evoke laughter as it tries to justify its importance over a lung cell, just as humanity’s ego occasionally forgets its humble role in the cosmos.  If the universe could laugh, it would at the absurdity of the majority of things humans believe to be real.

The electrician’s craft and the spiritual quest of biblical readers share this crucial perspective of light—spiritual or tangible—as a force of connection, humility, and resilience.

At its core, the universe reflects the design of a living circuit—a dynamic, interconnected web of flowing energy. Like a machine designed by an omnipotent electrician, every star operates as both energy source and signal emitter, every planet not only has its own gravity but conducts gravitational forces from other universal bodies, and black holes serve as cosmic “ground wires,” transferring light and matter into unimaginable dimensions.

Even gravitational forces act like massive transformers, balancing and distributing energy across the galaxy. We may marvel at such cosmically engineered grids, but these designs only mimic what nature perforns on planet Earth—consider neurons firing in a brain, lightning bolts connecting clouds to the earth, or the synchronized choreography of stars across the Milky Way witnessed by a group of stargazers on a clear evening in the high mountains..

This universal circuit mirrors both electrical and human systems of exchange. Our nervous system carries pulses; our emotions transmit energy; our thoughts ripple outward, building unseen connections like wires forming an infinite network.

Electricians understand a simple truth—energy flows. Resistance, whether in electric systems or human life, is not inherently negative but a necessary element to guide and shape energy. Resistance limits unmanageable surges, redirects currents into fruitful pathways, and, with capacitance and inductance, creates opportunities for resonance.

Without resistance, electrical systems could overload, causing catastrophic failures. Similarly, humans encounter resistance in the form of challenges, fears, or limitations. Human resistance often is the outcome of the fact that the requisite knowledge and intention for performing a task is absent. But perhaps these barriers are dormant wires waiting to connect us to greater purpose, or switches inviting us to illuminate unexplored possibilities.

Just as electrical currents carry information along wires, humans transmit information and meaning through their actions, thoughts, and intentions. Viewed through this lens, the “bandwidth” of the universe becomes a philosophical concept—the capacity to send and receive significance.

Each star burns with a resolute purpose to illuminate. Every black hole compresses matter with enduring intentionality. Similarly, our lives hold immense potential to light the world around us when aligned with purpose. Every connection we forge is part of a vast, dynamic circuit—a continuous exchange of energy that builds meaning and amplifies shared experiences.

Consider the significance of grounding. Electricians know that grounding stabilizes systems, preventing dangerous surges. Likewise, humans must ground themselves—through reflection, mindfulness, or service—rooting their energy to preserve stability amid life’s chaos.

To engage fully with life’s vast energetic network, we must tune ourselves to universal bandwidth. This involves recalibrating our resistance, fostering meaningful connections, and grounding our purpose. Here are the four key practices inspired by electricians’ principles:

1. Tune into Frequencies of Presence

Disconnect from modern distractions and focus on signals—both external and intuitive—that truly matter.

2. Limit Voltage Spikes

Avoid burnout by managing energy spikes caused by overstimulation. Reserve bandwidth for what genuinely sustains you.

3. Build Circuit Connections

Nurture relationships filled with positivity and intention, strengthening your personal energy grid.

4. Ground Yourself Daily

Whether through meditation or practical work, grounding keeps you balanced and prevents emotional surges.

Through these practices, we align as contributors to a galaxy that mirrors the electrician’s design. We become custodians of light, sparking connections, illuminating pathways, and amplifying energy—not just for ourselves but for the universe at large.

The question then becomes—if the universe operates as a boundless circuit of energy and intention, how will you connect your spark to its infinite grid?

Resistance, Overwhelm, and Resonance: Lessons from Electrical Circuits to Human Growth

Electricity flows through circuits, bringing life to our devices, much like emotions and energy flow through us, fueling our thoughts and actions. Yet, too much current can overload and fry a circuit, just as overwhelm can emotionally burn us out. On the flip side, resistance—far from being an enemy—shapes and stabilizes electrical systems, ensuring optimal flow. Similarly, in human life, resistance often arrives disguised as struggle or challenge but can serve as a guiding force for intentional growth.

And, when resistance is fine-tuned, harmonized with capacitance and inductance, the result is resonance—a sublime state of coherence and balance. This resonance not only connects components in divine symmetry but also offers profound lessons for human experience. Could resistance, far from being an obstacle, be the key to discovering harmony amidst life’s chaos? Resistance, overload, and resonance can teach us much about navigating life’s complexities.

Resistance is one of the fundamental principles in electrical circuits. It serves to temper the current, preventing catastrophic surges that could damage delicate components. While it may seem counterintuitive, resistance isn’t inherently bad; it’s a regulator, a safeguard. When paired with capacitance, which stores energy, and inductance, which guides the flow, the elements together create balance and usable energy.

What does this seemingly technical concept have to do with us? Much more than meets the eye. Resistance in our lives emerges as obstacles, stress, or inner conflict. It’s the frustration of an unplanned setback, the discomfort of stepping outside our comfort zone, the challenge of moving forward when the path ahead seems unclear, or the aversion to new understanding or information that threatens our perceived stability and balance,.

Take a moment to reflect. Have you experienced a time when resistance blocked your way, only to later realize it shaped you profoundly? For example, facing rejection at work may feel like a hard stop. Yet, it often redirects your energies to areas that truly matter. Athletes encounter physical resistance—gravity, muscle fatigue—and through it, they develop strength and resilience. What about that therapist who may have overwhelmed yiu with information about the lifelong effects of a childhood trauma you never wanted to look at again?  These aren’t barriers to avoid but forces to engage with intentionally, just as a well-designed circuit integrates resistance within its system for optimal functioning.

If resistance is inevitable, perhaps the real question is how we respond to it. What if, instead of resisting resistance, we calibrate it?

This idea echoes ancient spiritual teachings and psychological frameworks. Buddhist philosophies, for example, teach that suffering—akin to resistance—arises from attachment or aversion. By intentionally meeting resistance with mindfulness and curiosity, we can transform it. Carl Jung’s work on shadow integration also resonates here; psychological resistance often points to our repressed emotions or unexamined fears. By leaning into this resistance, we uncover deeper truths and grow.

Resistance sharpens intention. Imagine a river encountering rocks in its path. Instead of halting entirely, it changes direction, carving new paths in the landscape. Similarly, in our lives, resistance urges us to pause, recalibrate, and purposefully channel our energy. Struggles at work might sharpen your focus on a side passion. Personal loss might bring clarity to priorities.

But intention is key. Without intentionality, resistance overwhelms, leaving us stagnant. Compare this to a simple electrical system where resistance left unchecked results in short circuits and failures. Human growth lies in acknowledging resistance, tempering it with intentional action, and transforming the raw tension into clarity.

Ignoring resistance—whether in circuits or life—comes at a cost. Just as overloading an electrical circuit leads to sparks and burnout, overwhelming ourselves without resetting can lead to emotional and physical breakdowns. Many mental health professionals today see burnout not as a personal failing but as a systemic fault. Too much input, too fast, without pause to restore balance.

To manage resistance effectively, we will need some practical strategies, and I will cover them in depth later in the book.

Resistance, however, is only part of the equation. When paired intentionally with capacitance (storage of energy) and inductance (direction), resistance participates in creating resonance. Resonance is the phenomenon of harmony within a system, where energy flows seamlessly, amplifying and connecting its components.

How can we cultivate resonance in our lives?

1. Personal Balance

Resonance begins within. Take time to align your actions with your values. Are you pursuing goals that genuinely resonate with your inner purpose, or are you chasing societal scripts that leave you depleted?

2. Harmonious Relationships

Think of relationships as circuits where people are “connected components.” Empathy acts like inductance, guiding emotional flow, while boundaries play the role of resistance, ensuring balance without depletion. Resonant relationships amplify energy, nurturing both parties.

3. Communal Connection

Resonance extends beyond individuals to communities and societies. Just as synchronized electrical systems power massive grids, humans thrive in collaborative environments. By fostering empathy, balancing individual needs with collective goals, and focusing on shared purpose, communities achieve collective “resonance.”

4. Creative Flow

Creativity is resonance in action—a symphony of thought, emotion, and expression. By balancing effort (resistance) with spontaneity (inductance), creativity surges, resulting in states of “flow” where time seems to disappear.

The next time you feel resistance—be it frustration, challenge, or discomfort—pause. Rather than viewing resistance as an adversary to overcome, see it as an energy to harness, a teacher pointing you toward growth. Balance it with intentional action, and seek ways to harmonize it within the larger context of capacitance and inductance.

Like electrical circuits, the sum of our lives is not just about managing individual elements. It’s about tuning them so that they work together in divine resonance, amplifying purpose and connection. Resistance, when embraced, can light up the circuitry of your personal and collective growth.
