Route 66 Santa Fe New Mexico to Holbrook Arizona

Saw some old towns and great off freeway scenery.  Much of original 66 is in disrepair or replaced by other newer roads, but it was a worthy effort.

Petrified Forest was amazing.  200 million year old trees, many remnants looking like they were chainsawed last week.

On to Sedona, then, Tuscon, lto visit June Thomas, our friend for several decades.

Piercing headache from all that driving, then wooziness and exhaustion, showing that the road got to me after 5 hours today. I am a bit road weary.  2000+ road miles caught up with me today.

I do most of the driving now, because as a passenger I fall asleep and miss scenery, and because my eyesight has deteriorated enough that I can’t read maps or books while driving, relegating that task to Sharon. At the end of the day, I had an anxiety reaction to top the day off, making me realize, yet again,  that I am not a young man anymore.

Sharon will be doing most of the driving today.

I am at peace again.
