Living Life On A Wider Frequency Of Being — The Electromagnetic Heart: A Gateway to Empathy, Intuition and Insight

Electromagnetism is one of four fundamental forces in our galaxy. The terms electromagnetism, radiation and light all refer to the same physical phenomenon: electromagnetic energy. The other three universal forces common to our being is gravity, strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force.  All forces have relevance to our life experience far beyond any intellectual curiosity, as they influence every one of the 50-100 trillion cells in the human body, and all aspects of our day to day lives..

Electromagnetism – the force electricians know best – is 10 to the 36th power stronger than Gravity. That’s 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times stronger!  In the19th century, Maxwell provided the mathematical backbone for electromagnetism—a single physical force that could sometimes appear as electricity and sometimes as magnetism, but which was at root a deep interconnection of the two. He also demonstrated that light was nothing other than a wave of electric and magnetic fields.  And he demonstrated that the speed of light could be determined by a mathematical relationship between frequency and wavelengths.  All three are related mathematically such that if you know one, you can calculate the other two.I was never prouder of myself when I derived and solved that equation in 1982, while studying to become a computer engineer.

Deep within our human shores, in the silent dance of quarks and leptons, exists a current believed to be life’s rhythm—electromagnetism. At the heart of this discussion, quite literally, lies the human heart. Beyond its role as a biological pump and metaphorical seat of our emotions, the heart may harbor a force much more immense and subtle—electromagnetic waves that bind our physical being with the far reaches of the cosmos.  For with our own innate electromagnetism, we are inextricably entrained and resonant with one of the Universe’s most powerful and ubiquitous forces.  This electromagnetism is analogous to the luminous, light,  or life energy field that shamans, saints, sages, mystics, and healers have reported and worked with for many thousands of years.

The electromagnetic nature of our existence is not just an anatomical footnote but a foundational element, possibly the conduit of our most profound experiences. The pulsating chambers of the heart uncover remarkable and often overlooked connections to our empathy, intuition and insights, urging us to expand our understanding of self and the universe.  The traditional narrative of the heart revolves around its circulatory duties and symbolic significance. Yet, modern science is unveiling a chapter that sings a different tune—one of magnetic resonance and pulse, extending well beyond the confines of Cardiology. Today, studies hint at the heart’s role as an endogenous electromagnetic dynamo, orchestrating a symphony of fields that have been observed to influence emotions and cognitive functions.

Our heart’s extrinsic function is undeniable, but its intrinsic existence as an electromagnet is less palpable yet equally potent. The very act of living, with each contraction and expansion, generates an electromagnetic signature that can be detected several feet away. Each pulse of the heart muscle generates a wave where resonance with others and the Universe, is created  Could it be that these ephemeral waves are the silent carriers of our emotional energy, the invisible tether that binds us in the enigmatic dance of life?

Empathy may be understood as the capacity to feel as another is feeling, or walking in another’s shoes and seeing as they do. Yet, when we tune into our hearts in such a manner as is defined by empathy, I can’t help but propose that the heart’s have become entrained with each other, and two heart’s temporarily beat as one in an empathetic union.

intuition may be painted as a muse reserved for artists and poets, an ethereal guide at the crossroads of decision-making. However, I pose that these flashes of insight, which seem to emanate from a deeper knowing, might well originate from the bowels of our electromagnetic heart. Our brain, bathed in the heart’s electromagnetic field, may be more receptive to intuitive bursts, suggesting a language beyond words—a conversation of resonance and vibration.

When we heed our heart’s counsel, what we are truly doing is honoring a current that traverses the expanse of our being, influenced by but not entirely subservient to the brain’s logical dictate. The implications are staggering, for they suggest that the rhythmic pulse of our hearts might be the rhythm of the wisdom that shapes our world and interrelations, facilitating a non-local consciousness that transcends the physical.

Skepticism is an old friend, and it peers from the fringes of this argument, questioning the scientific foundations and contending that we tread the forests of pseudoscience. Yet, to dismiss the heart’s electromagnetic pull is to reject a substantial body of research that hints at the heart’s role in coherence, both within our bodies and beyond, perhaps paving the way for holistic models of health and understanding.

The proximity to such a visceral and emotive organ makes the acknowledgment of its electromagnetism daunting, but if we peer through the lens of Quantum Physics and Biophysics, we find that these propositions are not as far-fetched as they first appear. Within these fields, we begin to see a tapestry woven from electromagnetism, uniting the physical and metaphysical in startling ways.

My exploration is not devoid of personal merit, for it blossoms from the seeds of experiences that defied explanation. Times when intuition cut through the noise of reason, instances where a fellow human’s silent pain was felt like a disturbance in my own field. Each of us carries these personal anecdotes, often veiled by the rational mind, tugging us back into the fold of consensus reality. Yet, I urge introspection—perhaps these are the breadcrumbs that lead to the heart’s electromagnetic truth.

In the symphony of existence, the heart may be the conductor, its electromagnetic baton guiding the human experience into uncharted territories of connection and understanding. To dismiss such sentiments as the ramblings of a romantic is to ignore the history of humankind, where the heart has always played a part in the shaping of our narratives, from archaic myths to the intuitive leaps of modern visionaries.

Our ability to comprehend this element of our being not only redefines our understanding of human health but also our place in the universe. It offers a profound union between the biological, psychological, and the spiritual, underscoring the adage that to truly know oneself and one’s world is to know the heart’s electromagnetic nature. I encourage further forays into this subject, for in its grasp, we may just find the roots of our unity and unravel the mysteries that have eluded us.

Harnessing Heartmath for Personal Empowerment and Resilience

In the ceaseless quest for personal growth and inner peace, our hearts often serve as the silent compass, pointing to the core of our emotions and energy. But what if we could harness the power of this metaphorical engine to fuel our resilience, enhance our emotional intelligence, and pave the way for a more balanced, empowered life? This is the core philosophy of Heartmath, an approach that is transforming psychological paradigms by emphasizing the role of the heart in human well-being.

At its essence, Heartmath is a system of techniques and principles developed to create coherence between the heart, mind, and body. The Institute of Heartmath, founded in 1991, has been at the forefront of this movement, researching and promoting practices such as heart-focused breathing, heart rhythm coherence monitoring, and emotional self-regulation.

The foundation of Heartmath is grounded in the discovery that the heart’s electromagnetic field is the most powerful in the human body and can be influenced by our emotional state. This means our emotions have the potential to affect not only our mental well-being but also our physical health.

Heartmath primarily involves two key techniques—’Quick Coherence’ and ‘Heart Lock-In’—which are designed to bring one’s heart rhythms into a coherent pattern, resulting in a more synchronized communication between the heart and the brain. By focusing on positive emotions and employing specific breathing patterns, individuals can intentionally achieve heart coherence.

The most significant finding of Heartmath is the correlation between emotional state and the heart’s coherence patterns. When experiencing positive emotions like gratitude or compassion, the variability of our heart rate becomes more ordered, signaling a state of coherence. This state is associated with increased mental clarity, emotional stability, and reduced stress.

The tangible benefits of integrating Heartmath into one’s life are wide-ranging and profound. It goes beyond mere relaxation to offer a powerful skillset that can transform daily responses to stress, emotion, and the myriad of challenges life presents.

In a world where stress is an omnipresent force, Heartmath techniques equip individuals with the tools to manage stress effectively. By maintaining heart coherence, we are more likely to shift our perspective, see the bigger picture, and respond to stressful situations with greater ease.

Heartmath nurtures a deeper understanding and connection with one’s emotional landscape. Through the practice of observing the impact of thoughts and feelings on heart rhythms, individuals can develop a higher degree of emotional intelligence, leading to better self-awareness and interactions with others.

The culmination of heart coherence practice is an overall enhancement of personal well-being. It is not merely an exercise in the moment but a practice that, over time, can lead to increased intuition, clearer decision-making, and a sense of personal empowerment.

My own discovery of Heartmath was a serendipitous encounter during a time of profound challenge in my life. The simple act of aligning my breath with a focus on my heart’s center proved to be an anchor in a raging sea of uncertainty. As I persisted with the practice, I noticed a subtle yet powerful transformation occurring within me.

Anecdotes abound in my life that speak to the influence of a coherent heart on my daily experiences. From diffusing arguments with loved ones to finding unexpected solutions to work dilemmas, my intentional pursuit of heart coherence has not only eased my path but broadened my horizons.

Every stressful moment becomes an opportunity to anchor in the coherent state—be it stuck in traffic or on the brink of a deadline, the ability to maintain coherence has become my go-to strategy for resilience. The gift of Heartmath is that it restores a sense of agency and control over our state of being.

The most profound aspect of Heartmath is the empowerment it provides. It is a testament to the incredible resilience and adaptability of the human heart and mind. With Heartmath, we are not at the mercy of our emotional turbulence but rather the architects of our inner world.

The first step towards empowerment is taking charge of our emotional states. Heartmath demystifies the inner workings of our emotional realm and offers practical, actionable steps to cultivate positive emotional states, thereby empowering us from within.

In our increasingly disconnected world, Heartmath fosters a connection—with ourselves and with others—that is vital to our well-being. It’s a bridge that leads to compassion and understanding, and a powerful source of personal and collective resilience.

Notwithstanding the myriad benefits, Heartmath is not without its skeptics and challenges. One prominent critique is the dearth of large-scale, peer-reviewed studies that validate the claims made by the Institute of Heartmath. Additionally, some may find the initial phases of practice demanding, as it requires a shift from autopilot emotional responses to conscious emotional regulation.

It is important to acknowledge that Heartmath is not a panacea but a powerful tool in the pursuit of well-being. Sharing personal experiences and offering guidance can help demystify the practice and lend it credibility among those who might approach with reservations.

Like any practice, the key to reaping the benefits of Heartmath lies in consistency and persistence. In addressing the criticisms, it is important to recognize that this is a personal and ongoing process. Overcoming initial hurdles is part of the path towards mastering the art of heart coherence.

The invitation to explore Heartmath is an invitation to reclaim and understand the power of our heart in shaping our reality. It is an evolutionary leap in the field of personal development, a practice that not only stands to benefit the individual but also holds the promise of a more heartful collective experience.

For those willing to embark on the Heartmath journey, the promise is one of enhanced personal empowerment and resilience—an internal shift with the potential to ripple outwards and touch every facet of our lives. The power lies within us, in the silent beat of the heart, waiting to be consciously harnessed.

Bruce

Presently, I am 67 years old, and I am learning how to live the life of a retired person. I am married to Sharon White, a retired hospice nurse, and writer. Whose Death Is It Anyway-A Hospice Nurse Remembers Sharon is a wonderful friend and life partner of nearly 30 years. We have three grandsons through two of Sharon's children. I am not a published writer or poet. My writings are part of my new life in retirement. I have recently created a blog, and I began filling it up with my writings on matters of recovery and spirituality. I saw that my blog contained enough material for a book, so that is now my new intention, to publish a book, if only so that my grandsons can get to know who their grandfather really was, once I am gone. The title for my first book will be: Penetrating The Conspiracy Of Silence, or, How I Lived Beyond My Expiration Date I have since written 7 more books, all of which are now posted on this site. I have no plans to publish any of them, as their material is not of general interest, and would not generate enough income to justify costs. I have taken a deep look at life, and written extensively about it from a unique and rarely communicated perspective. Some of my writing is from 2016 on to the present moment. Other writing covers the time prior to 1987 when I was a boy, then an addict and alcoholic, with my subsequent recovery experience, and search for "Truth". Others are about my more recent experiences around the subjects of death, dying, and transformation, and friends and family having the most challenging of life's experiences. There are also writings derived from my personal involvement with and insight into toxic masculinity, toxic religion, toxic capitalism, and all of their intersections with our leadere. These topics will not be a draw for all people, as such personal and/or cultural toxicities tends to get ignored, overlooked, or "normalized" by those with little time for insight, introspection, or interest in other people's points of view on these troubling issues. There also will be a couple of writings/musings about "GOD", but I try to limit that kind of verbal gymnastics, because it is like chasing a sunbeam with a flashlight. Yes, my books are non-fiction, and are not good reading for anybody seeking to escape and be entertained. Some of the writings are spiritual, philosophical and intellectual in nature, and some descend the depths into the darkest recesses of the human mind. I have included a full cross section of all of my thoughts and feelings. It is a classic "over-share", and I have no shame in doing so. A Master Teacher once spoke to me, and said "no teacher shall effect your salvation, you must work it out for yourself". "Follow new paths of consciousness by letting go of all of the mental concepts and controls of your past". This writing represents my personal work towards that ultimate end.
