All that you see, and will ever see, unto eternity, is yourself..
How will you see yourself today?
We all have walked down a roadway, gazing into windows, and seen our reflection in a strategically placed mirror, or unexpectedly reflective window. We are often startled by ourselves and our present experience of our reflection. We know it is us, yet, umm, we might have aged considerably, or our hair is out of place, or however we might judge ourselves as deviant from our internalized “optimal look”, whatever that might be.
Yet, in the absolute, what are we really seeing?
Is it who we really are, is it just our body, or is it just an image in our mind, perhaps totally unlike who we are in truth?
As neuroscientists and philosophers have told us, we are witnessing the magic of our sensory inputs stimulating our interior imagination space creating a personalized image that only we truly see, though, of course, others seeing us represent our bodies and their experience of us internally in their own unique representation. Yes, others never truly see us as we see ourselves, mand, vice versa.
Yet, let us extrapolate this amazing fact of perception to the very world and universe, that we all inhabit together. As we gaze upon our world, the other humans, plants, animals, geography and scenery, the sky and the nighttime stars, are we not also only witnessing ourselves, our own internal imaginal representations? Of course what is “out there” physically separate from us is not connected in any obvious material way to us, for as our bodies move in one direction the objects of perception do not move in tandem with us in an obvious physical way. Yet we carry perceptions of the objective reality within our minds, forever linking us, at least perceptually. Yet, mysteriously, we are also perpetually linked beyond the purview of our perceptions.
Yet, if all that we perceive is ourself, are we as vast as the earth, or even the universe itself? Certainly we could never perceptually experience that, even if it was the truth, as long as we cling to isolating, limited perceptions of ourselves and others.
What would happen if we were able to let go of the controls that our past perceptions have upon us, including space and time limiting ideas, and learn how low to witness life from a more open, non-perceptual, non-judgmental, non time based awareness? Could we observe without the past being present, the past observer, of course, being US?
What would we then see?
Ah, that mystery is for you to experience and know intimately for yourself.
Because, in the absolute, all that you see is yourself.
With pure awareness, the Universe has a chance to witness itself through the channel of YOUR pure awareness.
Now how exciting of a prospect is that?
Would you not want to get rid of everything in your mind that would obscure that most glorious vision
