When we touch our Self with deep awareness, we touch everything

The Beginning of Consciousness for Me

The mystery of consciousness has intrigued philosophers, scientists, and thinkers for centuries. My personal awakening to consciousness was an experience that unfolded uniquely, reflecting the profound complexity and wonder of the human mind.

I remained silent until just after my fourth birthday. For my parents, this was a period of deep concern. Numerous medical tests were conducted to determine if there was a physiological reason behind my silence, yet none was found. Despite my inability to articulate my thoughts, I have poignant memories from those pre-verbal times. One vivid memory is the acute awareness of my parents’ absence late at night. Even as a child, I felt a profound sense of loss, a feeling that was shared by my sister as well.

All those unspoken words and thoughts came rushing out one day while riding in the backseat of my parents’ car. A place where I felt safe and secure suddenly became the stage for an extraordinary transformation. I began to talk, and I couldn’t stop. My mind exploded with words and understanding, akin to the Big Bang Theory of ultimate origins. In that moment, the miracle of consciousness fully permeated my universe. I had a knowing, an understanding, about virtually everything around me, and I was rapturously willing to inundate my world with my verbal accounts of this new awareness.

My parents’ initial reaction to my sudden verbosity was one of joy and relief. After years of silence, they were thrilled to hear me speak. However, their delight quickly shifted to amazement at the sheer volume of my speech. My father even wondered aloud if I would ever stop talking! The contrast between my silent years and the flood of words that followed was stark and profound.

My personal experience offers a unique lens through which to view the phenomenon of consciousness. The transition from a pre-verbal state to an explosion of language and understanding suggests that consciousness is not merely a gradual development but can also manifest as a sudden and overwhelming realization. This aligns with theories that consciousness has both gradual and sudden aspects, depending on individual experiences and developmental trajectories.

For psychologists, my story underscores the importance of considering both physiological and psychological factors in understanding developmental delays in speech and consciousness. It also highlights the potential for sudden breakthroughs, which can be as significant as gradual progress.

Educators can take from this the importance of creating safe and supportive environments where children feel secure enough to express themselves. My breakthrough occurred in a place where I felt safe, suggesting that emotional security plays a critical role in cognitive and linguistic development.

Parents, particularly those who may be concerned about their child’s development, can find hope in my story. The road to consciousness and verbal expression is not always linear or predictable. Sometimes, all it takes is the right moment and environment for the floodgates to open. At my insistence, my parents were to enroll me in first grade at the age of five years, that is how explosive of growth of the fire of my mind, once it was ignited.

The beginning of consciousness, for me, was not a slow and steady process but was like the eruption of a volcano.. It reshaped my entire understanding of the world and my place within it. My experience serves as a testament to the intricate and often unpredictable nature of human development. It also offers valuable insights for those dedicated to studying, teaching, and nurturing the growth of consciousness in others, and understanding mpre of the mystery of himan consciousness..

I was to gradually lose my fascination with words and talking, as the cumulative effects of trauma gradually took hold of me over the intervening decades. When I finally became willing to talk again, after much work healing from  childhood trauma in my seventh decade of life, the Universe was born again in my mind.  The Big Bang has resulted in many thousands of pages of writing..

You are now reading part of the explosive result of my continuing healing adventure.

Human Consciousness and Cosmic Consciousness: A Journey from the Big Bang to Personal Awakening

In the grand tapestry of existence, the threads of human consciousness and cosmic consciousness intertwine to create a magnificent narrative that shapes our understanding of reality. These two forms of consciousness, while appearing dualistic, are intrinsically unified, revealing profound insights into the nature of the universe and our place within it.

Human consciousness, the self-aware component of our being, is often seen as a localized phenomenon confined within the boundaries of our physical existence. In contrast, cosmic consciousness is the vast, all-encompassing awareness that transcends individual limitations, connecting us to the infinite expanse of the cosmos. Despite their apparent differences, these two forms of consciousness are deeply interconnected, each reflecting and amplifying the other.

The relationship between human and cosmic consciousness can be likened to a dance, where each movement of the individual mirrors the intricate patterns of the cosmos. This dance is not just a metaphor but a fundamental aspect of our existence, suggesting that the entire universe is a reflection of our inner state.

The Big Bang theory, traditionally understood as the explosive event that marked the beginning of our universe 13.8 billion years ago, takes on new significance when viewed through the lens of consciousness. Instead of merely a historical occurrence, the Big Bang can be seen as a continuous and personal awakening that unfolds within each of us.

When we first become conscious, we experience our own “Big Bang”—a moment of profound realization that expands our awareness and connects us to the cosmic consciousness. This awakening allows us to access the entire history of the universe and the infinite potential of cosmic consciousness, limited only by our human conditioning.

Human conditioning, the accumulated beliefs, experiences, and societal norms that shape our perception, often acts as a barrier to fully experiencing cosmic consciousness. These limitations confine us to a narrow view of reality, preventing us from realizing our true potential.

To transcend these limitations, we must engage in practices that expand our awareness and dissolve the barriers of conditioning. Meditation, mindfulness, and other spiritual practices can help us peel away the layers of conditioning, allowing us to tap into the boundless realm of cosmic consciousness.

The recognition of the interconnectedness between human and cosmic consciousness has profound implications for our understanding of human potential and spirituality. By aligning ourselves with cosmic consciousness, we can access higher states of awareness, creativity, and insight.

This alignment can lead to a deeper sense of purpose and direction, guiding us toward actions that foster personal growth and collective well-being. It challenges us to reimagine our roles as co-creators with the universe, actively participating in the evolution of consciousness.

In a world fraught with challenges, from environmental crises to social inequalities, the perspective of cosmic consciousness offers a beacon of hope and guidance. By aligning with the expansive awareness of the cosmos, individuals and societies can develop innovative solutions and foster resilience.

This alignment encourages a shift from ego-centric perspectives to a more holistic understanding of our interconnectedness with all life. It promotes empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility for the well-being of the planet and its inhabitants.

The exploration of human and cosmic consciousness invites us to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. By transcending the limitations of human conditioning and aligning with the infinite potential of cosmic consciousness, we can unlock new realms of possibility and contribute to the collective evolution of consciousness.

In this grand narrative, each of us plays a vital role, reflecting the boundless creativity and intelligence of the cosmos. It is a call to awaken to our true nature and embrace the infinite potential that lies within us.

I invite you to join me in this exploration, to challenge conventional thinking, and to discover the profound interconnectedness that shapes our existence. The universe is not just out there; it is within us, waiting to be realized in all its glory.

Bruce

Presently, I am 67 years old, and I am learning how to live the life of a retired person. I am married to Sharon White, a retired hospice nurse, and writer. Whose Death Is It Anyway-A Hospice Nurse Remembers Sharon is a wonderful friend and life partner of nearly 30 years. We have three grandsons through two of Sharon's children. I am not a published writer or poet. My writings are part of my new life in retirement. I have recently created a blog, and I began filling it up with my writings on matters of recovery and spirituality. I saw that my blog contained enough material for a book, so that is now my new intention, to publish a book, if only so that my grandsons can get to know who their grandfather really was, once I am gone. The title for my first book will be: Penetrating The Conspiracy Of Silence, or, How I Lived Beyond My Expiration Date I have since written 7 more books, all of which are now posted on this site. I have no plans to publish any of them, as their material is not of general interest, and would not generate enough income to justify costs. I have taken a deep look at life, and written extensively about it from a unique and rarely communicated perspective. Some of my writing is from 2016 on to the present moment. Other writing covers the time prior to 1987 when I was a boy, then an addict and alcoholic, with my subsequent recovery experience, and search for "Truth". Others are about my more recent experiences around the subjects of death, dying, and transformation, and friends and family having the most challenging of life's experiences. There are also writings derived from my personal involvement with and insight into toxic masculinity, toxic religion, toxic capitalism, and all of their intersections with our leadere. These topics will not be a draw for all people, as such personal and/or cultural toxicities tends to get ignored, overlooked, or "normalized" by those with little time for insight, introspection, or interest in other people's points of view on these troubling issues. There also will be a couple of writings/musings about "GOD", but I try to limit that kind of verbal gymnastics, because it is like chasing a sunbeam with a flashlight. Yes, my books are non-fiction, and are not good reading for anybody seeking to escape and be entertained. Some of the writings are spiritual, philosophical and intellectual in nature, and some descend the depths into the darkest recesses of the human mind. I have included a full cross section of all of my thoughts and feelings. It is a classic "over-share", and I have no shame in doing so. A Master Teacher once spoke to me, and said "no teacher shall effect your salvation, you must work it out for yourself". "Follow new paths of consciousness by letting go of all of the mental concepts and controls of your past". This writing represents my personal work towards that ultimate end.
