We visited one of the places on earth where there is a true litmus test for one’s humanity, Hiroshima. A person who visits here and does not suffer with the Japanese people is already up to their neck in hell, and they are too dead to even know it. We saw a few hardened souls at the memorial, but many were present with their difficult feelings, and respectful.
Gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, nauseating, horrifying, tearful, shameful, and a few feelings I just cannot yet define characterized my experience of the Hiroshima Peace Museum. The children’s peace monument, however, can be an inspiration to all, and a reminder that hope always remains, even into the gates of hell.
Some men just want to watch the world burn, however.
Can we IMAGINE a peaceful alternative for the world, other than its ending through war, or ecological collapse?
