My first race bib since the 2005 Nike Run Hit Wonder 10K. — at Portland Running Company.
I completed my first road race in 15 years today. I was in position number 49, out of 330 participants.
No rain, great race, nice people, and an all around well organized and fun 5K event!

330 runners are getting ready to start! One runner is getting ready to pull his left groin muscle right at the start of the race! Ouch!
I ran about five minutes slower than my best times from the last century, yet this is a new age, with a new 64 year old body, so today was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS! No first place, or lack of top three finish, ever felt so good!!!!!

My age group is the 60-64 year group. We run for fun, fitness, and a healthy sense of self-esteem. I am fulfilled. — at Portland Running Company.
Pardon me while I limp to the bathroom.
Multiple tibial stress fractures, a resulting pain pill addiction, and osteoporosis forced my retirement from road racing in 2006. I was not to recover from the nearly fatal Oxycontin addiction until 2009.
Confidence in the Presence, and my rediscovered bodily integrity, encouraged me to run in this one.
And, Spirit willing, there will be more!

There are so many first place plaques and trophies, here, from my racing days in 1994-2002. Not one of them could replace a hug from a friend, however.
